A subsidiary of Chinese state-owned firm China Harbour Engineering Co Ltd has donated US$300,000 to build a two-storey classroom building for an orphanage in Angola, Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua reported.
The donation deal was signed on Tuesday in Benguela, a western city in the African country, between Maria da Conceição da Cruz, director of the orphanage, and Zhuang Huaqiang, a project manager in the company.
China Harbour is a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Co Ltd.
The new facility will feature six classrooms and aims to improve the living conditions of some 100 children, Xinhua reported.
China Harbour has built 16 harbours in Angola since 2006 when it first ventured into the country, according to the report.
