The Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) was one of the exhibitors at the 21st Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF), with a Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Pavilion.
On October 20, representatives of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao attended the opening ceremony of MIF and paid a visit to the Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Pavilion. During the encounter they had a chance to exchange views on several topics.
The Pavilion – covering 405 square metres – was located in the central area of Cotai Expo, the Venetian Macao’s convention and exhibition centre. There were seven booths for Portuguese-speaking Countries in the Pavilion, representing Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal and East Timor. Displays at the Pavilion include traditional products from Portuguese-speaking Countries, with accompanying written explanations, photographs and videos.
The Pavilion helps to promote the Portuguese-speaking Countries’ business and investment environments. At the same time, the Pavilion helps to promote the work done by Forum Macao and Macao’s role as a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
The Macao SAR Government has provided about 10 bilingual staff to help with interpretation and translation at the Pavilion, in order to facilitate direct exchanges between visitors and Delegates of Portuguese-speaking Countries members of Forum Macao.
The Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Pavilion has annually attracted approximately 5,000 visitors at previous editions of MIF. The Pavilion offers visitors to each edition of MIF a chance to learn more about the economic and trade co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, as well as business and investment opportunities in the lusophone world.
The Pavilion has been well received by officials, as well as by local and foreign businesspeople. Its presence at the event helps create new opportunities for economic, trade and cultural exchanges, helping to forge the new era of co-operation between Mainland China, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries. It also promotes mutual development and strengthens Macao’s role as a commercial and trade co-operation service platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
