Brands from China are entering Europe in a big way and Portugal is no exception. However, among the many already operating in Portugal, there are two that stand out at the moment - BYD and MG.

Starting with BYD, which began operating on Portuguese soil in mid-2023, sales are booming and in the first two months of this year alone they grew by almost 200%. With a total of 744 units sold in January and February, the Chinese manufacturer was the 15th best-selling brand in the country.

With figures slightly below BYD, MG is also growing in the domestic car market. Sales began at the end of 2023 and, since then, the brand that now belongs to China's SAIC Motor group has surpassed its sales with each passing month. With 532 copies sold in the first two months of 2025, the MG is up 92% in Portugal compared to the same period last year.
