The “good cooperative relationship” between the Macao Consumer Council (CC) and services and consumer associations in Portugal will see new chapters in 2024 in terms of exchanging information, exchanging experiences and training personnel in the area of consumer protection, said the local body.

The CC recently held online working meetings with the Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) and the General Consumer Directorate (DGC) of Portugal to discuss the cooperation plan for the current year.

According to the CC, the three parties agreed to develop, in an “offline” manner, exchange and staff training actions in terms of information relating to consumer protection, mediation or arbitration of consumer conflicts, and practices in monitoring provisions of the Law on the protection of consumer rights and interests.

The CC believes that, through connection and cooperation with consumer organizations in Portugal, work to protect consumer rights and interests in Macao will be optimized.
