Brazil’s Economic Climate Index has improved in the last few months, according to data compiled by Brazilian think tank Fundação Getúlio Vargas.

The data – cited on Thursday by Brazilian news agency Brasil – showed that the index climbed from 44 to 47 points between October 2015 and January this year.

A reading above 100 points is considered to be positive, while a score below that is considered to be unfavourable.

According to the news agency, the improvement in the Economic Climate Index was in part due to an improvement in a component indicator, known as the Expectations Index, which went up from 68 to 74 points.

The Current Situation Index – another component of the Economic Climate Index – remained flat at 20 points, the media outlet added.

Fundação Getúlio Vargas also compiles Economic Climate Indices relating to other countries. China’s stood at 72 points in January, the news agency said.
