On December 16, the Chinese Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sun Weidong, met with the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Xanana Gusmão, the President of the National Parliament, Maria Fernanda Lay, and the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Timor-Lest, Milena Rangel, to discuss the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.
Sun Weidong said that his visit was to advance the implementation of the consensuses agreed by the leaders of the two countries, to promote cooperation and for a consultation meeting with his counterpart that had a productive discussion.
Xanana Gusmão said that the Chinese government was committed to continuing to support the development of Timor-Leste’s strategic areas.
