China sold 54% of all electric cars bought by Brazil

China has sold 37,612 electric cars to Brazil since 2017, when vehicles of this type began to be imported by Brazilians. The figure represents 54% of the total number of electric cars traded (69,633), according to data from Brazil's Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services.

 

In 2023, 14,445 electric cars were sold in Brazil. Of these, China traded 8,896 in the year. The Belgians are in second place, selling 2,527 electric motor vehicles in 2023.

 

Overall, China traded 35,520 of all the cars imported by Brazil in 2023. This is equivalent to 17.6% of the total. The amount negotiated by the Chinese totalled US$ 651.4 million in the period, a record. The Chinese are second only to Argentina, which has already sold 106,143 cars to Brazil from 1 January to 21 November 2023.
