The Minister of Public Health of Guinea-Bissau, Domingos Malu, has announced that the government of the People's Republic of China will continue to send missions of Chinese doctors to support the government of Guinea-Bissau in the fight to boost the national health system.
He made this announcement after signing the protocol of agreement on sending a Chinese medical mission to Guinea-Bissau for a 2024/2029 programme. Within the framework of the initialled protocol, the Chinese government will send four Chinese medical missions to Guinea-Bissau and each mission will last a year and a half.
"China has always supported Guinea-Bissau in terms of medical care, especially at the Canchungo Regional Hospital, where it has always installed a medical team," said the Minister of Public Health.
"This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Chinese medical team being sent abroad. We are very grateful for the initiative of the President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, who honoured the Chinese medical team with a very important medal," said the ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Guinea-Bissau, Guo Ce.
