Chinese Ambassador to Guinea-Bissau Jin Hongjun has said his host country can achieve self-sufficiency in food in five years – with Chinese help, Macauhub reports.
The Macao news website says Mr Jin was speaking during a visit to Caliquesse, in northern Guinea-Bissau, where an agricultural training centre is due to be established with Chinese support.
Mr Jin said the youth of the people of Guinea-Bissau and the suitability of its climate, along with Chinese aid, would enable it to reach its goal of feeding itself, so allowing it to export its surplus food.
China is willing to help the country develop in other ways, too, Macauhub quotes the ambassador as saying.
