The new Prime Minister of Cape Verde, Ulisses Correia e Silva, said his nation is committed to overcoming any challenges; particularly unemployment.
Speaking last week at his inauguration ceremony, Mr Correia e Silva said — as quoted by Cape Verdean newspaper A Semana — the archipelago was in a “difficult situation” economically and financially due to the uncertain economic outlook globally.
But his government was committed to taking on the challenges, including the creation of 45,000 jobs in the next five years in order to tackle soaring unemployment, the Prime Minister said.
The authorities would also work to improve the business environment, the transport system, and to develop human resources, he added.
Mr Correia e Silva’s party, Movement for Democracy (MpD), has returned to power after 15 years. It secured an absolute majority in the nation’s parliamentary elections in March.
