China aims to deepen cooperation with Brazil in the area of technology parks, sharing its know-how in this field with the South American country.

The news came during a meeting in the capital Brasília between representatives of the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology.

A Brazilian Government online portal said the Chinese delegation headed by Cao Jianlin, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, expressed interest in boosting bilateral cooperation in this area.

“China has used technology parks as important tools for economic and even social development,” Álvaro Prata, Executive Secretary of the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, was quoted saying. “They look at technology parks as places to promote innovation. These policies are more developed [in China] than in Brazil.”

Brazil will host this year a Sino-Brazilian seminar on technology parks at the São José dos Campos Technology Park in São Paulo, according to the report.
