The feature film ‘Ainda Estou Aqui’, directed by Walter Salles, will be shown in cinemas in China following the acquisition of the distribution rights by Hishow Entertainment. The film marked the history of Brazilian cinema by winning the first Oscar for Best International Film for the country in 2025, and will now be the first major Brazilian release to arrive in one of the biggest markets.

To accompany the release of ‘Ainda Estou Aqui’, Hishow Entertainment has also acquired the rights to show another Walter Salles film, the classic ‘Central Station’. Released in 1998, the film received Oscar nominations for Best International Film and Best Actress for Fernanda Montenegro, becoming another landmark in Brazilian cinema.

The distribution of ‘Ainda Estou Aqui’ is part of a new initiative by Chinese production company Hishow Entertainment, which is launching the We Love Cinema programme, aimed at promoting art films. The project seeks to attract audiences through innovative strategies, such as initial selective screenings followed by expansion according to the performance of each film.
