Angola recently secured an investment of 1.3 billion dollars for the construction of strategic infrastructure aimed at strengthening electricity transmission and enabling energy exports to the southern region of Africa. The funding will come at no cost to the Angolan state. The agreement was formalized on January 31 through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in Luanda between the National Electricity Transmission Network (RNT) and Somagec Energy, a Moroccan branch of the Chinese engineering group.

The project includes the construction of high-voltage transmission lines and state-of-the-art substations, essential for the integration of the Angolan electricity grid into the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) and for the supply of electricity to neighboring countries.

The Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, pointed out that the investment represents a fundamental step in the country's strategy to capitalize on the surplus from national electricity production, promoting private sector participation in energy exports and strengthening regional energy integration.
