Chinese state-owned grain trading company COFCO will open its largest export port terminal in April in the Port of Santos, Brazil, in an investment of USD 285 million.
Sergio Ferreira, COFCO's operations director in Brazil, said at a press conference that the new terminal, called STS11, which will be fully operational in 2026. Reflecting the importance of Brazil to the company's commodities business, STS11 will be COFCO's largest export port terminal in the world.
COFCO, one of Brazil's largest grain exporters, shipped 17 million tons of soybeans and corn from the South American country in 2024. The company expects to ship 18 million tons of both grains from the country in 2025.
