Brazilian leather exports up 12.5%

The Brazilian leather sector closed 2024 with export revenues of US$ 1.26 billion, an increase of 12.5% on the previous year. The volume shipped grew by 22.3% in square meters and 38.8% in weight, according to a report by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB).


China continued to lead Brazil's leather imports, with a 20.8% increase in value, to US$ 425.133 million.


Vietnam recorded a 69.8% increase in the value of Brazilian leather imports, consolidating its position as the fourth main destination. Mexico, the fifth largest importer, grew by 26.3%. Both are still behind the United States and Italy, the second and third largest buyers of Brazilian leather last year.


“It was a crucial year for us. We worked incessantly on compliance, traceability and customs barriers, achieving results that will allow us to grow even more in 2025,” he said in the note.
