The University of Lisbon will help set up a Faculty of Medicine on the new campus of the University of Macau (UM), in nearby Hengqin (Mountain Island), said the vice-rector of the University of Lisbon. This Faculty of Medicine will be the first public medical faculty in Macau.
According to the vice-rector of UM, Rui Martins, the idea on this campus is to offer “dual degrees” (co-tutorial courses) with foreign universities. The Faculty of Medicine has already reached an agreement with the University of Lisbon.
The new campus in Hengqin, whose foundation stone was laid on December 9, would be inaugurated in 2028 and allow the number of UM’s students increasing from the current 15,000 to a maximum of 25,000 students.
