China Three Gorges Corp. has put €500,000 euros (US$594,108) into a fund for scholarships for students at eight Portuguese universities so they can study in China, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese state-run news agency quotes China Three Gorges Executive Vice-president Lin Chuxue as saying in Portugal that this shows his company is socially responsible and willing to facilitate Sino-Portuguese co-operation.

Five scholars are already studying in China and four more students were awarded this week scholarships of €25,000 euros each.
