The Association of Chinese Societies in Portugal was launched in Lisbon last week, China Radio International reports.
The government-run broadcaster reported that the moment represented a milestone in bilateral relations.
The association’s president, Zhang Xin, an executive from State Grid working with the Portuguese company REN – Redes Eléctricas Nacionais S.A., said ties between the two countries encouraged companies to develop businesses in Portugal.
Ambassador to Portugal Cai Run attended the ceremony as did representatives of 12 institutions and companies. Mr Cai praised developments in co-operation between companies in China and Portugal, noting that bilateral investment had increased rapidly.
The association has members working in power generation, financial services, health, information technology, communications, construction and food and beverages.
