The art exhibition “CHINA, North.South”, by Macao artist Victor Marreiros, was inaugurated on October 15, at 6:30pm. The showcase is being held at the Residence of the Consulate-General of Portugal in Macao.

The 10th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, hosted by the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, features a series of very interesting activities taking place in October, including three art exhibitions. Two are by artists from Portuguese-speaking Countries, while the other one is by Macao artist Mr Marreiros.

Officiating guests attending the exhibition’s opening ceremony included: the Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Ms Xu Yingzhen; the Ambassador to Beijing of São Tomé and Príncipe, Ms Isabel Maya Jesus da Graça Domingos; the Ambassador to Beijing of Timor-Leste, Bendito Freitas; and the Consul-General of Portugal in Macao, Mr Paulo Cunha Alves.

In her speech during the exhibition’s opening ceremony, Ms Xu noted that Macao had been over the centuries a place for East-West exchanges, and a unique meeting point between people from China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries. The exhibition “CHINA, North.South”, as well as other events included in the 10th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, aim further to deepen cultural exchanges between China, the Portuguese-speaking Countries and Macao.

Macao-born Mr Marreiros is a graphic designer and illustrator. He has participated in several exhibitions and cultural events in Macao and elsewhere. The quality of his work has been publicly recognised by the Macao SAR Government.

The exhibition “CHINA, North.South” features recent works by Mr Marreiros. It is an example of cultural creativity made in Macao, and pays tribute to cultural exchanges between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries. It is open daily until November 8, between 11:00am and 5:00pm.
