The Búzios 7 project in Brazil's Búzios oil field, the world's largest in the pre-salt ultra-deep waters, in which China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) Limited participated in the construction and holds a stake, successfully went into operation on February 15 (local time), CNOOC announced on February 17.
Located in the Santos Basin, the Búzios field has an operational depth of around 2,000 meters. According to CNOOC, Búzios 7 was the sixth oil field project and adopted a fully offshore development model with a floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO) and a subsea production system.
With a handling capacity above the industry average, the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré, one of the main components of the project, is one of the largest FPSO units in the world. Construction was completed in China in July 2024, and in October last year, the FPSO arrived at the Brazilian field site.
