Work on the Lobito Refinery, located in Benguela province and run by the Chinese company CNCEC, has reached 46% completion in the first phase of the project, according to a statement from the company.

The project involves 954 workers, including 747 Angolans and 207 Chinese, according to CNCEC's representative in Angola.

The Lobito Refinery was the result of a contract signed on October 21, 2023 between Sonangol and CNCEC, worth six billion US dollars.

On December 31, 2024, the lifting operations for crude oil storage tanks 101A and 101B began in Area 41, signaling the project's official entry into the installation phase and reaching a new milestone.
