The BrazilianNational Nuclear Energy Commission (CNEN) and the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of peaceful applications of nuclear energy on the morning of 20 December 2024.
The co-operation will focus on exchanges and technical co-operation involving advanced nuclear, fusion and research reactors, the nuclear fuel cycle, nuclear environmental protection and the application of nuclear technology. In addition, they will be able to work together on the development of so-called small modular reactors (SMRs), on construction projects, as well as on the manufacture of equipment and the repository of radioactive waste.
The partnership is the result of the two countries' mutual understanding of the application of nuclear energy in combating global climate change, maintaining a diverse energy supply, improving quality of life and promoting sustainable development in the world.
