China Three Gorges Corp. Executive Vice-president Lin Chuxue has said the Chinese state-owned power supplier wishes to form partnerships with Portuguese utility Energias de Portugal SA (EDP) to make investments outside their own countries, Jornal de Negócios reports.

The Portuguese newspaper quotes Mr Lin as saying during a visit to Portugal: “For every opportunity in the global market, in the European market, or in Latin America or, perhaps, in Portuguese-speaking African countries, we will discuss with EDP if we can invest together.”

Mr Lin said the companies could invest jointly in Angola, if the opportunity arose.

China Three Gorges owns 21.35 percent of EDP, a stake it bought in 2011 for €2.7 billion (US$3 billion).
