Cape Verde has applied for a seat in the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Executive Council, A Semana reports.
The Cape Verdean newspaper says Cape Verde hopes to fill a seat reserved for an African country from 2018 to 2021.
The WTO Commission for Africa will choose the African representatives at the UNWTO General Assembly meeting in the Chinese city of Chengdu in September.
The UNWTO executive Council has 33 members, including Angolan, Chinese, Portuguese and Mozambican members. The council acts on decisions or recommendations made by the assembly.
