The signing ceremony of the Belt and Road laboratory cooperation and joint construction between South China Normal University (SCNU) and Timor Lorosa'e National University (TLNU) was held recently in Guangzhou. The two institutions will conduct in-depth exchanges in light science, smart education and agricultural science, and jointly build platforms for scientific research, academic exchanges and postgraduate training, among other partnerships.

In 2021, SCNU established the Timor-Leste Study Center, the only ministerial-level national and regional research platform at national universities directly named after Timor-Leste.

“In the future, SCNU will explore new modes of cooperation with UNTL in the areas of academic research, talent training and cultural exchanges, and jointly help Timor-Leste achieve autonomous sustainable development in the fields of education and science, and build a firmer bridge for exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, culture and other areas,” said SCNU Rector Yang Zhongmin.
