On January 16, Turismo de Portugal launched a mini-program accessible via WeChat, a Chinese social network application, with the aim of promoting Portuguese gastronomy, attractions and festivals in the Asian country.
Tiago Brito, Turismo de Portugal's representative in China, explained that this is a search engine dedicated to Portugal, aimed mainly at end consumers rather than organized groups. The mini-program, fully translated into Chinese, offers a wide range of content, including 750 points of interest divided by region.
Categories include tourist attractions, entertainment, shopping, gastronomy and hotels. For example, in the section dedicated to Porto and Northern Portugal, visitors can discover the region's main tourist attractions, such as the historic center of Porto and the Montesinho Natural Park. The food and wine section offers Chinese presentations of local specialties such as bife mirandesa and bacalhau à Brás.
