Horse Powertrain, the joint venture between Renault and China's Geely for the production of combustion engines and hybrids, announced on January 14 the start of production at its factory in Aveiro, Portugal, of the new eMotor electric motor.
Intended for use in full hybrid and plug-in hybrid systems, the new eMotor has a power output of 66 hp and a maximum torque of 212 Nm. It is placed between the combustion engine and the transmission, allowing it to operate in 100% electric mode or in conjunction with the combustion engine.
To make production of the new engine possible, Horse's factory in Aveiro had to invest in four new lines that will allow it to manufacture up to 160,000 units a year.
