WEST HORSE POWERTRAIN PORTUGAL, a joint venture between Chinese car manufacturer Geely and Renault, was one of the main investors in Portugal in 2024, according to official figures.
The Portuguese Minister of Economy, Pedro Reis, said in an interview with Jornal de Negócios and Antena 1 that the amount contracted by AICEP - Agência para o Investimento e Comércio Externo de Portugal (Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade of Portugal) in 2024 exceeds EUR 420 million and will enable the creation of a thousand direct jobs “in completely different areas”.
Among several investments, the ministry highlights the EUR 47 million investment by WEST HORSE POWERTRAIN PORTUGAL to increase the production capacity of the plant located in Cacia. This joint venture between Chinese car manufacturer Geely and Renault produces automotive components.
