Beijing has offered about US$149 million to the Cape Verde government to pay for the rehabilitation of houses for the underprivileged, A Bola reports.
The Portuguese newspaper says Cape Verde’s Prime Minister Ulisses de Pina Correia e Silva made the announcement on Monday during parliamentary debate on the 2017 Budget.
Mr Silva was quoted as saying the Mainland’s donation was not included in the Budget calculations but would “definitely happen”. A plan to rehabilitate the homes will be carried out with local government.
