Mozambique citizens have positive views on China-backed projects developed in the country in the last ten years, according to a publication released last month in the African nation.
The China-Mozambique Commercial Association and Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua compiled the publication, which is in Portuguese. It mentions approximately 30 China-aided projects in Mozambique and includes interviews with around 100 Mozambican officials and residents Xinhua reported on Thursday.
“China has played a role in supporting the realisation of what is our biggest dream as Mozambicans – the elimination of poverty – through its contribution to the development or implementation of various projects, in education, health, infrastructure, in promoting economic and [in] trade co-operation,” the Director for Asia and Oceania of Mozambique’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Belmiro Malate, said at the launch ceremony, as quoted by Xinhua.
According to the news outlet, Mozambique’s National Data Center inaugurated last month; the Zimpeto National Stadium, completed in 2010; the Maputo International Airport terminals, concluded in 2012; and the Maputo-Catembe Bridge, currently under construction by Chinese firm CRBC; are among major China-backed projects developed in the African nation in the last few years. All of them are mentioned in the publication.
