Officials of the ruling parties in Mozambique and China have met in Beijing to discuss increasing Sino-Mozambican co-operation, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency quotes Chinese Communist Party Central Committee Political Bureau member Huang Kunming as telling Frelimo Secretary-General Roque Silva Samuel that they should work together to act on what has been agreed by their superiors, and to facilitate exchanges between senior officials.

Mr Huang said this could raise Sino-Mozambican relations to new heights.

The report quotes Mr Silva Samuel as saying Frelimo cherishes its friendship with the Chinese Communist Party and is willing to learn from the experience of the Chinese ruling party while in power.

Mr Silva Samuel undertook to strengthen Sino-Mozambican ties, Xinhua says.
