Deals together worth 2.6 billion yuan (about US$387 million) were struck at the Shaodong International Mechanical and Electrical Hardware Fair, held in Shaodong in the central Chinese province of Hunan from April 6 to 8, the China News Service reports.

The news agency says the 13 deals done include one to set up a Brazil-Shaodong Commodity Exhibition and Trade Centre.

The report says representatives of over 900 enterprises in 10 different parts of the world attended the fair, including representatives of Brazilian and Thai enterprises.

It quotes Brazilian Deputy Consul-General in Guangzhou Wilson Adélio Domingues as saying his country and Hunan have close economic and trade ties, and that he hopes for more Hunan investment in Brazil.

The China News Service quotes the consul-general as saying Shaodong makes and exports more mechanical and electrical hardware than any other place in China, and that he hopes to give greater publicity in Brazil to the Shaodong fair.
