The Chinese government has made a gift of office equipment to the Guiné-Bissau election commission, the Chinese Embassy in Bissau says.

The Embassy issued a written statement quoting Chinese Ambassador to Guiné-Bissau Jin Hongjun as saying the gift may help the commission organise elections better.

Mr Jin said Sino-Guiné-Bissau cooperation had progressed, and that China would keep on helping Guiné-Bissau develop in various ways.

The gift will strengthen Sino-Guiné-Bissau friendship, the Chinese Embassy statement quotes an official of the election commission as saying.
