Cape Verde’s imports grew to more than 600 million euros (US$647.3 million) last year, an increase of 10.5 percent in year-on-year terms, the Portuguese news agency Lusa reported on Tuesday.

The report cites data from the National Statistics Institute that shows 46.5 percent of the country’s imports were supplied by Portugal. Spain, the Netherlands and the Mainland were the next biggest source of imports.

The value of Cape Verde’s exports and re-exports was 150 million euros last year, which represented annual declines of 10.3 percent and 18.4 percent respectively.

Spain and Portugal were the two leading destinations for the archipelago’s exports.
