The world's first cargo of green lithium was shipped on the 27th of July from the Port of Vitória, in Espírito Santo, Brazil. The mineral extracted in the Jequitinhonha Valley, in Minas Gerais, has the triple zero standard, without carbon, waste and harmful chemicals.

Sigma Lithium is responsible for extracting the ore and the cargo will be sent to the Chinese company Yahua to transform the lithium into batteries to be used around the world. The first shipment has 15,000 tons of triple zero green lithium and another 15,000 tons of high-purity ultra-fine by-products. Until the end of the year, the export estimate is around 130 thousand tons.

Brazil is the 7th argest holder of lithium reserves in the world, with 1.23 million tons and is currently the 5th largest world producer of the ore.
