Mozambican Finance Minister Adriano Maleiane has said Chinese investment in his country has improved the quality of life there, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese state-run news agency quotes Mr Maleiane as saying so at a gathering arranged by the Chinese Embassy in Maputo to celebrate 70 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

“The contribution of Chinese investment in agriculture, infrastructure and energy, transport and communication, human capital development, is in line with the country’s economic and social development priorities,” Mr Maleiane said.

“China will continue to contribute to the economic and social development of Mozambique by providing a lasting and constructive partnership to consolidate our millennial cooperation.”

The Chinese government is amenable to closer Sino-Mozambican cooperation for the benefit of Chinese and Mozambicans alike, Xinhua quotes Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique Su Jian as telling the gathering.
