University of Macau to build Chinese-Portuguese language training centre

The University of Macau plans to establish a Chinese-Portuguese teaching and training centre next year to train more bilingual students to support the Macao’s development.

The centre would use innovative teaching methods based on the needs of Macao students and develop strategies tailor-made for Chinese-speaking students, the university said in a statement released last weekend.

Classes would also be held for Portuguese language instructors from primary and secondary schools in Macao, and Mainland universities. Courses in Chinese language and culture will be offered to students from the Portuguese-speaking Countries.

Students in such as courses in tourism, business management and medical sciences would be offered support for their professional courses taught in Portuguese, the statement added.
