The C2 Mobilidade sobre Trilhos Consortium, comprised of the Chinese company CRRC and the Brazilian company Comporte, will ensure the construction and operation of the train that will connect the cities of São Paulo and Campinas. The concession to operate the service will be valid for 30 years, ensuring a long period of administration.
In addition to the Intercidades Train, the consortium will also be responsible for the Intermetropolitan Train (TIM), which will serve several cities in the interior. The operation of the 7-Rubi line, currently controlled by CPTM, will also be transferred to the consortium.
The TIM is expected to begin operating by 2029 and the TIC by 2031, with an estimated capacity for 60 thousand passengers per day.
Governor Tarcísio de Freitas emphasized that the Intercidades Train is a vital project to reduce traffic on the highways that connect São Paulo and Campinas.
