The University of Macau (UM), established 43 years ago in Macau, has maintained relationships with Portuguese-speaking countries. The institution is strengthening its international character and sees Brazil as one of its priorities.

Currently, UM has established student exchange programs with more than ten universities in Brazil. Furthermore, collaboration and sharing of academic resources in scientific teaching and research are also being promoted between UM and Brazilian universities through international alliance platforms such as the Association of Portuguese Language Universities, the Oceanic Research Alliance between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and the Academic Library Alliance between the Macau Special Administrative Region (China) and Portuguese-speaking countries.

To boost cooperation with Brazil, the rector of UM, Song Yonghua, and the vice-rector, Rui Martins, will tour the country in June. This visit allows them to sign agreements with several Brazilian higher education institutions, providing "greater collaboration in terms of student and professor exchanges and research," says Rui Martins.
