Food market monitor Conab forecasts that Brazilian grain output will fall to 229.7 million tonnes in the 2017-2018 season from 237.7 million tonnes last season, Xinhua reports.
The Chinese government-run news agency quotes Conab as saying the country will produce some 118 million tonnes of soybean and 85 million tonnes of corn this season.
Conab expects unfavourable weather to reduce output, in particular the yield of the second corn harvest.
An official of the Agriculture Ministry, Wilson Vaza, thinks that next season grain output may surpass 240 million tonnes, Xinhua says.
