IDC, a gatherer of market intelligence, says that among makers of smartphones sold in Portugal in the second quarter of this year, sales of phones made by Xiaomi Corp. of China were the fastest-growing, ECO reports.
The Portuguese financial news website quotes a report by IDC as saying Xiaomi sold almost 23,000 smartphones in Portugal in the second quarter, 24.7 percent more than a year earlier.
The report says that, in contrast, second-quarter sales in Portugal of smartphones of all makes shrank by 7.7 percent year-on-year to 593,400.
Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd of South Korea sold over 196,000 smartphones in Portugal in the second quarter, more than any other maker, and Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd of China sold almost 173,500, increasing its share of the market to 29.2 percent from 28.1 percent a year earlier, ECO says.
