Nearly 30 Macao lawyers or arbitrators have visited Fortaleza and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil with a view to increasing cooperation with their Brazilian counterparts, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) says.

A written statement issued by IPIM says the purpose of such cooperation is to encourage Brazilian enterprises to use Macao as a place to do business with China, and to improve the services Macao lawyers and arbitrators offer Brazilian enterprises.

IPIM says the visitors and their hosts concluded one agreement on co-operation by their respective associations of lawyers, and another on co-operation by their respective consumer protection bodies.

IPIM, the Macao Lawyers Association and the Arbitration Centre of the World Trade Centre Macao jointly arranged the visit, according to the IPIM statement.
