Chinese Ambassador to Angola Cui Aimin says his country has lent Angola over US$60 billion in the 35 years since Sino-Angolan diplomatic relations resumed.
In an article published in the Jornal de Angola newspaper, Mr Cui says the money was spent on infrastructure such as power stations, roads, bridges, hospitals and homes.
This infrastructure has “boosted economic development and improved the lives of Angolan people”, he says in the article.
Separately, the Portuguese newspaper Diário de Notícias reports that the climax of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to Angola this month will be the signing of an agreement making it easier for Angolans to obtain visas to enter China.
