China is looking to invest in agriculture in Angola’s Cabinda Province, newspaper Jornal de Angola reported.
A political adviser of the Chinese Embassy in Angola, Li Chong, made the remarks on Saturday. He was speaking to the press after a meeting with Cabinda’s Governor, Aldina da Lomba.
Mr Li said – as quoted by the newspaper – that China is interested in diversifying its investment in the region, in order to help speed development of the Province. He added the Asian nation could invest in areas such as agriculture, as well as in civil construction.
According to the adviser, China’s largest input currently in Cabinda involves developing infrastructure. A total of approximately 350 Chinese citizens are currently working in that capacity in the Angolan province, he said.
Mr Li also said efforts were being made in order to encourage more Chinese business people to invest in Cabinda, the report added.
