Macau creates Sino-Lusophone legal center

The University of Macau (UM) and the Supreme Court of China created a Sino-Lusophone judicial and legal studies center on the 22nd of September.


Song Yonghua, rector of UM said that the center aims to be a platform for cooperation and exchange between different judiciaries, as the demand for judicial cooperation has increased.


In his speech, Zhang Jun, President of the Supreme People's Court, said that the establishment of the center is an important initiative for the Supreme People's Court and the Macao SAR to contribute to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and to help Macau play the role of a bridge between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.


On the occasion, Paulo Jorge Rodrigues do Espírito Santo, Deputy Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macau, addressed China's economic and commercial relations, cultural differences and the advantages of legal exchange and cooperation between the two parties.
