Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi says the International Monetary Fund is helping his country to reform its economy and to increase transparency and accountability, Reuters reports.
The news agency quotes Mr Nyusi as saying in an interview that the IMF is “helping in programmes for macroeconomic stability, those measures that will attract investors to come to the country”.
The report says outsiders stopped giving Mozambique money after the government acknowledged in 2016 US$1.4 billion worth of borrowing that it had kept quiet about.
Mr Nyusi said foreign investment was now increasing, driving economic growth of 3.7 percent last year.
The president expects the growth rate to be over by 4 percent this year, Reuters says.
