Zheng Yelai, president of Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd of China for cloud business, has said his company will soon build its own cloud computing nodes or availability zones in Brazil and Chile, the China Daily reports.

The Chinese state-run newspaper says Huawei is expanding in the global cloud computing market.

The report quotes Mr Zheng as saying his company and Spanish telecommunications company Telefonica SA jointly offer cloud computing services in Latin America at present, but that Huawei will now build its own nodes because its business in the Latin American consumer market, including smartphones, is growing.

Huawei also means to build more data centres to extend its reach in Africa, having begun offering public cloud computing services in South Africa last December, with a regional data centre in Johannesburg, the China Daily says.
