Number of Mandarin teachers heading to Portugal is set to double

The Confucius Institute is willing to double the number of Mandarin teachers it sends to Portugal, the Jornal Tribuna de Macau reports.The Confucius Institute currently sends Mandarin teachers to 12 schools in Portugal under a pilot scheme, the newspaper reports.

In Macao earlier this week, Portugal’s Minister of Education Tiago Brandão Rodrigues said the number of teachers would double.

The Confucius Institute is an educational and cultural exchange organisation that teaches Mandarin and promotes Chinese culture.
