China’s telecommunications service firm Huawei Technology Co “is establishing a partnership” with the Government of Angola to develop security projects for the public sector, Angolan news agency Angop reported.
Rean Chan, head of Huawei’s sales to the public sector, made the remarks last week at a summit about technologies for telecommunications in Africa.
Huawei is working with the Angolan Ministry of Interior in a project that will allow the Government to “ensure the safety of its citizens” through video surveillance, Angop reported.
Huawei wants to “contribute to the development of information technologies in Angola” as well as training the local personnel in related fields, Mr Chan was quoted saying.
In separate developments, Li Peng, Huawei’s President for Eastern and Southern Africa, said last week that the company is also open to provide technical solutions to Mozambican authorities, reported local newspaper Notícias.
