On November 17, the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) participated in the launch of the China-Brazil Electric Innovation and Sharing Alliance (EISA) in Rio de Janeiro. The initiative brings together 16 companies, universities and research centers with the aim of promoting the exchange of knowledge and technologies between Brazil and China to modernize the electricity sector in both countries. The event included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by the founding institutions, with the support of the MME.

The Brazilian Minister of Mines and Energy was represented at the event by the MME's National Secretary for Energy Transition and Planning, Thiago Barral, while attending bilateral meetings at the G20. During the event, Barral stressed the role of the Alliance in transforming the electricity sector, saying that this initiative is essential for Brazil and China to serve as platforms for developing and testing innovative solutions on a large scale.

The actions envisaged by the alliance should stimulate the modernization and strengthening of the electricity sector in both countries, promoting greater collaboration on cutting-edge technologies and sustainable solutions.
